Defend The Homeland

Defend The Homeland is a resampled album inspired by and celebrating the work of Chinese artist Zhao Bandi, the minimalist of appropriation and a pioneer of digital photo collage. Zhao captures globally recognized Chinese symbols, most notably the giant panda, along with the kitschy language and expressions prevalent in advertising, to humorously and poignantly reveal sharp societal critiques. By effortlessly piecing together basic cultural symbols, he transforms himself into the panda, symbolically "defending the homeland."
Similarly, this album is not an unconscious exercise in random collage but a deliberate selection of sounds, atmospheres, and language imbued with popular cultural symbolism. These elements are humorously and gently fused with subcultural abstract music that carries strong representational weight. Several tracks also play with poetic gestures, stretching or pausing phrases to enhance their lyrical impact.
Under a tightly controlled and autonomous aesthetic vision like the Chinese aesthetics strategy, each remix on this album is crafted from only two songs, strictly without interchangeability. Each track forms a unique narrative that cannot be replicated, building a wall to safeguard the homeland, and preserve a holy belief.

保衛家園是一張重採樣的專輯，靈感來源於並致敬中國藝術家趙半狄，挪用藝術的極簡主義者，也是數位照片拼接的先驅。趙半狄捕捉了全球家喻戶曉的中國象徵——大熊貓，以及廣告中流行的媚俗語言與表情方式，通過輕鬆幽默的形式尖銳地揭示社會問題。他輕鬆地拼貼基礎文化符號，在中國語境中將自己化身為大熊貓，象徵性地「保衛了家園」。
同樣，這張專輯並非一種無意識的隨機拼貼，而是有意選擇帶有流行文化象徵意義的音色、氛圍與語言，將它們以幽默而溫柔的方式，與具有強烈表徵性的抽象次文化音樂融合在一起。幾首曲目還通過拉長或停頓句子，創造出詩意的表達。
在自主且嚴密的美學控制下，每一首混音僅由兩首歌曲組成，不能與其他作品互換。每一首混音自成一個無法複製的敘事，為「家園」築起一道圍牆、保育崇高信仰。
