Conceived as a diptych along with last year’s Picture This, Half Circles presents a suite of lurid nocturnes against the former’s sunlit scenes. Its five pieces lean into blueing night, winnowing nonchalant visions out of dusk on the city - tires on a wet road, stretches of headlights, fleets of clouds passing round a waning moon, heavy machinery, voices under eaves, a silhouette of impressions. As in Picture This, melodies suspend, redial, shift. And the same desire pools - to draw emotion on the windowpanes between sounds and their contexts.
