does music dream of being a painting,
or a poem?
when music dreams
does it wish to trade its tones for colours?

if we dream of music,
does music dream of us?
does it dream of the thrush’s
song in the tree,
or the fox’s laugh at night?

perhaps it dreams of being wind
whistling through a gate
making the inanimate
come alive and sing
an aeolian song

there is music in all sound
and sound in all things
in its absence
what we call silence
becomes music’s sleep

we play to make dreams for music
we listen to write it’s dream journal
we sing to enter the deepest
realms of feeling
